Frequency of Blood Groups in Blood Donors in Bushehr Province

Background: The frequency of blood groups in each community has become one of the most intriguing questions. Since blood transfusion provides the blood to healthy blood for the needy, it is important to be aware of the frequency of donor’s blood group and the deficiency of rare groups. So this study examined Frequency of blood groups in blood donors in Bushehr province. Methods: Blood group of all blood donors (healthy individuals, first time and those who were exempt from donation) who were referred to blood transfusion centers in Bushehr province were collected during 1394-1397. For data analysis Excel v.10 were utilized. Result: 184,376 people referred to the centers for donation within four years. The number of blood groups were included O+ (70752, 38.3%), O- (6532, 3.5%), B + (42182, 22.8%), B- (3407, 1.8%), A+ (39601, 21.4%), A_ (3258, 1.7%), AB +(9351, 5.0%) and AB- (1098, 0.6%). Conclusion: this study showed that frequent blood group in blood donors in Bushehr were O+, B+, A+, AB+, O-, B- , A-, AB- respectively.
