چکیده :

Introduction Extreme Physical activity increase production of oxidative species that imbalance between oxidative stress and antioxidant system due to damage various tissues. Because of this, antioxidant supplement is recommended. Since pollen palm have antioxidant effects, this study evaluated the effect of palm pollen and resistance training on the concentration of bilirubin in active men. Methods In the experimental- interventional study, 24 active men with circular resistance training were selected randomly into three groups and each group was included eight person: group1 (pollen palm), group2 (vitamin C) and group3 (placebo as a control). Pollen palm, vitamin C and placebo were prescribe as capsule, tab and tab once in every day. Circular resistance training was designed at 10 station for each group. Serum samples were collected at regular intervals for measurement of bilirubin level. SPSS v.16, descriptive and inferential statistics were utilized for data analysis. Result 24 hours after final exercise, the amounts of direct bilirubin in vitamin C, palm pollen and placebo groups were 0.76±0.16, 0.73±0.07 and 0.78±0.05 mg/dl respectively. There was significant difference between vitamin C and date pollen groups. Conclusion Despite the positive effect of date pollen on athletes, it did not effect on the amount of their bilirubin.
