Effects of municipal solid waste management on quality of life in urban and rural residents in the city of Bukan

ABSTRACT One of the most important environmental issues in developing countries is a solid waste management in urban and rural areas; that has a direct effect on the quality of residents' life. Problem of solid waste management, due to rapid population growth and urbanization over the past, worries officials. This paper has been done to investigate the effects of solid waste management on quality of life in urban and rural of Bukan dwellers. The research method is descriptive and analytical survey, and Data has been collected through field studies in rural and urban area of Bokan. The statistical population is the Bukan and 17 villages of central part, which after nomination of sample by using of Cochran formula, were completed 200 questionnaires in Bukan and 200 questionnaires in 17 villages of central part. The results indicate that the effect of waste management on social indicators of quality of life in urban and rural areas was average. The impact of solid waste management on economic indicators of quality of life and infrastructure index of quality of life in urban and rural areas is the average upward. The results of the study findings show that, solids management on the quality of life of urban and rural resident of Bukan had a significance level of %99 and calculated value of t equal to 7/451. Also, according to the Mann-Whitney achieved significant levels equal to 6212 and less than 1 percent of total responses urban residents with 3/98 vs. rural residents responded with a 2/12 percent of the effect on quality of waste management life it can be concluded that the effects of solids management in urban areas is more than in rural areas.
