چکیده :

In this research work a two dimensional model for randomly dispersed single-walled carbon nanotubes in polymer hosts were used to predict the electrical percolation threshold of the resulted composites in different concentration of carbon nanotube. This was performed under a fixed DC voltage for different polymer matrix such as high density polyethylene, polymethyl methacrylate, polystyrene, polycarbonate, and polyethylene terephthalate via finite element method. The predicted electrical percolation threshold values in different composites were validated by experimental results published by other scientists. Results show that the electrical conductivity of the composites is strongly dependent on carbon nanotubes weight percentages. Also adding carbon nanotubes to polymer matrix caused decrease in tunneling distance for various polymers in composites. Our results show that finite element method could capture more details in the prediction of electrical percolation threshold in the nano-composites.
