چکیده :

Keywords: Emotional intelligence, Social popularity, Third of guidance school students, Military townships Introduction: The importance of emotional intelligencein relation with life events and achieving mental and physical health, job and academic success and good quality in communication with others. Aim: The present study is aimed to evaluate the relationship between emotional intelligence and social popularity among third of guidance school in military institution in Tehran. Method: The study method is correlation and causal -comparative design. Two groups of boys and girls were compared using T-test. The sample size is 323 people and they were determined by Morgan Table. The sampling method was multistage, cluster random. The study samples were selected randomly among 15 boys’ classes and 20 girls’classes and they were volunteers. The study measure is Bar-on emotional intelligence survey and sociometric test was also used as complementary method. Results: Based on the results of this study, there was no significant association between emotional intelligence and social popularity. Also, there was no significant difference between emotional intelligence and social popularity among girls and boys and this is due to similar expectations of parents and the school teachers of adolescent girl the boys.
