چکیده :

In this study Chemo-mechanical properties of Rapeseed residue were investigated. The chemical components of Rapeseed residue including (cellulose, lignin, ash and extractive values) were measured as 44.04, 19.21, 6.03 and 13.14 respectively. The fiber length, fiber diameter, lumen cavity, and cell walls thickness values were measured as 0.96±0.14 mm, 24.21±3.59, 15.47±2.35 and 4.37±0.63 µm respectively. Chemo-mechanical Pulping process using the cooking liquor of Mazandaran pulp and paper mill with 20% (Sodium Sulphite) based on O.D weight of wood material was used and cooking temperature was 170 °C, while cooking time was 30, 40 and 50 minutes. The result shows that when treatment is more severe the efficiency decreases, while the strength indexes (Tensile strength, Tear strength, Burst strength, Breaking length and Stiffness) will be increased as well as optical properties (opacity, brightness). Additionally, the optical and mechanical properties of CMP paper of Rapeseed residue shows that the result of 50 minutes treatment improves optical and mechanical properties. All mechanical properties and optical properties of treated paper with this treatment found out to be better than the others (not treated).
