Global Scientific Productions on Globalization

Using bibliographic records from the Social Science Citation Index, Science Citation Index, and Arts & Humanities Index, this paper tries to give a complete view of the evolution of globalization based on literature published during 1990-2010. Findings revealed that out of 17218 articles in the field of globalization, a total of 219 articles (1.27%) were written during 1990-2010 by top ten authors. Some of these articles were at the result of collaborative ones and some of them are non-collaborative ones. Geographical analysis indicated that the field has evolved considerably in different regions of the world. Harvard University with 170 records (0.99%) was the most productive institution in the field of globalization. Furthermore, chronological analysis uncovered that the scientific production in the field of globalization experienced a good increase in 2001 onwards. Overwhelming majority of documents were in English, German, Spanish, and French, respectively. Finally, journal of “International Sociology” was the most prolific journal in the field. It has been also declared that 11.9% of the literature was published in the area of economics.
