Primary Health Care and Nursing Curriculum in Islamic Republic of Iran

Background: Every academic curriculum especially Nursing Curriculum was related to global aims, society development rate, common society needs and authority’s viewpoint. Graduate nurse have positive important role in Primary Health care that is one of most important global aims for world health promotion. Study objectives: This article was aimed to describe position of primary health care in National Nursing Curriculum of Islamic Republic of Iran. Methods: Based on lived experiences about nursing education and teaching, literature review, documents, regulations, circular letters, directions about national nursing curriculum and critique of them, this article shares with the reader about position of primary health care in National Nursing Curriculum in Islamic Republic of Iran. Results: Result showed that Nursing Curriculum in Iran was based on Health - oriented approach and attend to Primary Health Care concepts and strategies in all courses such as medical surgical nursing , public health nursing , pediatric nursing , psychiatric mental health nursing ,etc and their training work. Conclusions/Recommendations: With respect to finding, Nursing Curriculum in Islamic Republic of Iran is comprehensive and community-oriented that provides society health promotion.
