Mental health and its related factors in pregnant women

Background: The psychological state of pregnant mother during pregnancy has a profound effect on the health of the fetus. Maternal severe depression, increases the possibility of complaint during pregnancy, stillbirth and low birth weight decided to commit suicide and the risk. This study investigated mental health and its related factors in pregnant women. Materials and Methods: This study is a systematic review by searching the databases Magiran, SID, Google scholar, Pubmed, Amedeo keywords within the mental health and pregnant women took place during the years 2000 to 2015. Inclusion criteria for this study, pregnant women and non-pregnant women's exclusion criteria and were postmenopausal. Results: In most studies, the prevalence of mental disorders among illiterate mothers, with a larger number of children and the economic situation was bad. The prevalence of psychiatric disorders in pregnant women who had unwanted pregnancies than those who had planned pregnancies was twice that and more disorders occurred in the third trimester of pregnancy. It was also observed that the quality of life of pregnant women are affected by mental health. Most negative impact on the mental health of pregnant women in the area of social performance and anxiety, somatoform disorder and depression were highest. In some studies it was observed that the participation of women in prenatal care and mental health directly and there are significant physical and mental health are most closely related to the scope of the (P = 0/001). Conclusions: In some studies it was found that using codified educational programs to improve behavior to positive change in the areas of physical symptoms of anxiety and depression is the mental health of pregnant women. With regard to the status of women as mothers and trainers responsible for training the human race is recommended in order to plan and implement the mental health of pregnant women.
