Children depend on adults to start their journey in life. This includes at first that the parents fulfill the child’s need for basic necessities and further on to give the child some sort of direction or map. Social workers play a pivotal and often leading role in safeguarding people’s rights, building relationships to support and empower children, adults and families to make important choices about the direction of their lives. Social workers should be aware of the indicators of child abuse. The indicators that presented in this article are physical, sexual, emotional, neglect and spiritual/ritual abuse. Prevention in child abuse involves taking action to stop abuse before it occurs, or intervening after the abuse has occurred to stop the abuse continuing and to help those who have been abused, this role of social work has three levels:1) Primary prevention 2) Secondary Prevention 3)Tertiary prevention. Therefore a multidimensional systems approach to understanding child abuse is built on several levels of concern and action. A conceptual framework of child abuse must include conceptually distinct levels of individual, family, community and cultural factors.
