The osteology of Pungitius hellenicus, a ninespine stickleback from Greece, is described and compared to that of other species of Pungitius in Europe. Characters that vary among the species include the shape of dorsal basals, number and arrangement of dorsal spines, size of ectocoracoid bone, size of pelvic bones, shape of anterior scutes and caudal peduncle scutes, and size and angle of the caudal vertebrae neural and haemal spines. Most of these characters or a combination of them are diagnostic for each of the three valid species of Pungitius.
