Pleural effusion, increased fluid in the adrenal gland, is one of the common disorders that can have different causes, such as ascites. For etiological studies and the selection of appropriate therapeutic methods, various biochemical, cellular and microbial tests are performed on fluids so in this study, the causes of ascites and pleural effusion in the hospitals of Bushehr city were identified. Methods: in this cross sectional descriptive study, all of cytological, biochemical, bacterial and cell count experiments were collected during 1394-1396. For data analysis Excel v.10 were utilized. Result: This study was performed on 321 Ascites and 344 pleural effusion in Bushehr Persian Gulf Hospital. Experiments showed that the cause of ascites were bacterial infections (25%), neoplasm (23%), liver disorders (15%), tuberculosis (12%), heart and kidney disease (9%), trauma (4%) and chlamydia (2%) respectively.
