Active human coagulation factor V (FVa) acts as a cofactor in converting prothrombin to thrombin leading to clot formation. This factor is a single polypeptide chain molecule composed of 2224 amino acids organized into five structural domains. Upon activation by thrombin or factor Xa, factor V is cleaved into a dimer forming a heavy chain and a light chain with the B domain of the molecule entirely degraded
