چکیده :

Introduction: One of the common problems in today’s schools is the phenomenon of bullying which is a serious issue less considered. Objective: The purpose of the present study is to examine the effects of emotional intelli-gence on bullying, social competency, and emotional intelligence of the fourth-grade schoolboys (the second peri-od) in the city of Shadegan.Methodology: The present study is an experimental field study with a pre-test/post-test control- group design among a student population. In this study, emotional intelligence components were taught in ten 45-minute sessions, based on Goleman’s model, to the experimental group collectively and for two sessions per week. To sample the population, two primary schools for boys were primarily selected through multi-stage random sampling and then two classes (the fourth grade) for each school and 10 students were selected randomly. Therefore, 20 students for the experimental group and 20 students for the control group were selected by age, grade, gender, and matched economic and social base. To measure the research variables, Olweus’ Bully-ing Inventory (1996), Social Competency Questionnaire and Emotional Quotient Inventory by Bar-On and Parker (2000) were completed as pre-tests and post-tests by students. The results were analyzed via multivariate analysis of covariance statistical method (MONCOVA).Results: The results showed that emotional intelligence training re-duces bullying and increases emotional intelligence and social competency. Conclusion: These findings raised the importance of emotional intelligence training to improve social competency and emotional intelligence and to reduce bullying among students.
