The positive relationship between religious coping methods, specifically, with physical and mental health of individuals has also been identified in some studies. The topic of spirituality and religion have been discussed rigorously in research, but very few studies exist on religious coping strategies. Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between religious coping methods with self-care behaviors in students of Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences. Materials and Methods: This study used a cross sectional design for 335 randomly selected students from Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences, Iran. A data collection tool was comprised of the Standard Questionnaire of Religious Coping methods and questionnaire of self-care behaviors assessment. Data was analyzed using a two-sample t-test assuming equal variances and adjusted linear regression model with 95% confidence interval (CI). Results: According to the adjusted linear regression model, with an increase of one score in positive and negative religious coping, the self-care (on the average) changes by 4.61 (95% CI 4.234 to 4.999) and -3.72 (95% CI -4.311 to -3.141) scores, respectively. Conclusion: Findings show a linear relationship between religious coping behaviors with levels of self-care behaviors. Further research to elucidate the variables relationships along with large sample size in different populations of participants is recommended.
