چکیده :

Abstract: The present study aimed to investigate the relationship of using satellite TVs and the Internet with religious identity of high school third grade students in Zahedan. The descriptive-correlational method was applied. The population consisted of all high school third grade students in Zahedan in the 2014-2015 academic year (N=3958). The stratified random sampling method was used to select 359 participants. Three standardized questionnaires including Baraheni’s Religious Identity Assessment, Kimberly Young’s Internet Addiction Test and a researcher-made questionnaire related to the variable of satellite TVs were used in the study. The reliability of these three scales was estimated using Cronbach's alpha coefficient that was 0.81, 0.89 and 0.82, respectively. Research findings indicated that the mean scores of religious identity of students were significantly lower than the test value representing that the religious identity of students was not at the optimal level or satisfactory. In addition, it was found that there was not any significant relationship between the use of satellite TVs and religious identity, while a significant relationship was observed between the use of the Internet and religious identity. It was concluded that the use of satellite TVs and the Internet cannot predict students' religious identity. Key words: Religious Identity, Satellite, the Internet
