The importance of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in economic development will be discussed and studied in the present article. Also the relationship between the type of the strategy of information and communications technology and its effect of the economic development of countries will be studied and among all the strategies of this technology it strongly emphasizes the role of “domestic use of information and communications technology” and it indicates that its importance in the economic development is more than that of the strategy of “exporting products and information and communications technology services”. And it eventually introduces the strategy of using domestic information and communications technology as the engine for economic growth. Therefore in developing countries and especially Iran selecting the strategy of information and communications technology has a major role in the country’s economic development. It will be reasoned that is more weight is given to using domestic information and communication technology in this strategy the development of the country’s economy will be very much aided.
