Abstract :Objective: The effect of physical activity on blood factors and hematological system is well proven. This study was conducted to study the effect of glucose utilization on some selected blood indices and lipid profile after a session of aerobic exercise. Methodology: 20 voluntary non-athletic male college students were randomly divided into two groups of Control (10 people) and glucose groups (10 people). They were asked to run one mile in three times with three-minute active rest each time. In order to measure some hematological indices and blood fats, 8 ml of brachial veins blood were collected from glucose group at the time of activity, 30, 60 and 90 min after utilization of 1.5 g glucose, and in water group in equal volume (3.5 ml per kg of body weight) immediately after exercise. Results: Fibrinogen and plasma viscosity were significantly increased in glucose group. In addition, the levels of fibrinogen, viscosity and triglyceride were reduced significantly in glucose group. Insignificant increase in HDL and reduction in LDL were observed after the exercise compared to base level. The levels of HDL and LDL were reduced at 30, 60 and 90 minutes after activity, but only the reduction at 90 minutes after activity was significant. Non- significant changes in cholesterol levels were observed in both groups. Discussion and conclusion: It seems that exercise with carbohydrate utilization result in desirable changes in some coagulation factors and blood fats. Desirable changes in these factors can be useful to reduce the risk factors of cardiovascular disease. Keywords: glucose, fibrinogen, plasma viscosity, lipid profile, aerobic activity
