We study some of the physical and mathematical properties of conformally Robertson-
Walker spacetimes. The spacetimes are everywhere conformal to the cosmological RWmetric
and asymptotically RW. The conformal factor introduces a radial deformation of the other-
wise homogeneous and isotropic spacetime of the cosmological background. We study the
conformal symmetries of the metric and investigate the physical e®ects the conformal factor
has on the physical nature of the spacetime.
