Application of ELECTRE Method for Sub-Contractor Selection using interval-valued fuzzy sets ; Case Study

Sub-contractors selection is a multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) problem, in which some conflicted quantitative and qualitative factors are influencing for making decisions. While selecting sub-contractors is one of the most important issues in general contractor organizations, selecting the right sub-contractors becomes more difficult if accurate input information is not achievable. According to the above mentioned, defining appropriate criteria and applying a practical method would be a vital stage in project management. Therefore, in this paper, the ELECTRE method, developed based on the interval – valued fuzzy sets, has been applied for selecting sub-contractors in general contractor organizations. An experimental problem, based using six pre-defined criteria of decision making and three alternatives, has been defined whereas three alternatives are considered to satisfy the project managers. Eventually results have been evaluated comparing to local experts' points of view.
