چکیده :

Background: Toxoplasmosis is a common protozoal disease in humans and animals caused by Toxoplasma gondii in humans and many mammals. Although the clinical manifestations of this disease are rare in healthy adults, this parasite causes severe complications in pregnant women and those with a weakened immune system. Considering the importance of this parasite in the development of congenital toxoplasmosis (congenital anomalies, abortion), and important complications in patients with impaired immunity and weakened immune system and due to the increase in the effective factors in suppressing the immune system (such as AIDS, transplantation, etc.), this study was conducted to determine the prevalence of toxoplasmosis in pregnant women referred to Sabzevar health centers during 2011 to 2016. Methods: By referring to these centers, information about all patients who had been diagnosed with toxoplasma were investigated during the past 6 years. In this descriptive cross-sectional study, 2546 pregnant women referring to Sabzevar Health Centers Were randomly selected. After reviewing their files, the following results were obtained: Results: Out of 2546 cases, 194 (7.61%) were affected by Toxoplasma. Of these, 5 (2.57%) were male and 189 (97.42%) were female. The youngest age was 26 in men and 36 in women. It should be noted that most women infected with toxoplasma were housewives conclusion: The present study shows the high prevalence of Toxoplasma parasites among pregnant women in Sabzevar city. Due to the importance of this parasite in pregnant women, the following are recommended: In addition to fighting infected cats and training, identifying anti-Toxoplasma antibodies in women during pregnancy counseling is part of health programs throughout the country, especially in Sabzevar.
