چکیده :

Purpose: To identify the differences between differential diagnosis and side effects of contraceptives, as well as to attract the attention of medical and emergency teams to this issue. Doing so can help to improve healthcare, increase the quality of life and decrease mortality and morbidity in society. Background: The use of contraceptives is becoming more common in present times, and most couples use some kind of contraception. Although there are many studies about contraceptive methods, such as oral contraceptive pills (OCP), IUD, tubectomy etc, as well as their effects on patients, no in depth studies have been carried out about differential diagnosis of emergency cases and the side effects of contraceptives. Design: In this study, various contraceptive methods and their side effects are discussed and the differential diagnosis of emergency cases and side effects are identified. Results: The results show that edema, hypertension (HTN), nausea and vomiting occurred in emergency cases, which may result from the estrogen component of oral contraceptive pills (OCP). This can be easily remedied, without other treatments, by consulting the patient's history and determining the proper kind of OCP that should be taken. Attention should also be drawn to the side effects of IUD displacement, such as pain, ectopic pregnancy and pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), as well as the side effects of tubectomy, such as lower abdominal pain and ectopic pregnancy in differential diagnosis of acute abdomen. Conclusion: Emergency team members should determine the side effects of contraceptive methods during differential diagnosis of emergency cases. This will lead them to accurate and exact diagnoses and the best treatment possible.
