Study of epidemiological status of Intestinal Parasites in Patients referred to Sabzevar medical diagnostic labs from 2015 to 2016.

Introduction and objectives : Intestinal parasites are one of significant problems in the developing countries, considering the high prevalence of this disease in Iran, a study was conducted to eavaluated epidemiological status of intestinal parasites in patient referred to Sabzevar medical diagnostic labs from 2015 to 2016.. Results and conclusion : The conducted study was in form of retrospective crosssectional and the data was extracted and registered out of medical records of 499 cases Of 499 participated in present study, 365 (73.1%) cases were posetive for intestinal parasites. Among the 365 cases, 286 (78.3%) were female and 79 (21.6%) were male. The amount and prevalence of non-pathogenic parasites were 196 in female (%39.2) and 6 (%1.2 ) in male. The highest prevalence parasites were Blastocystis hominis and Giardia lamblia. Significant reasons for contamination might be their more frequent contact with infected animals and consumption of contaminated water. Therefore, necessity of sanitation of personal hygiene, use of safe drinking water, wash hands frequently is inevitable.
