چکیده :

Background: Serum iron, TIBC and ferritin are the criteria for diagnosing of iron deficiency anemia (IDA). The aim of this study was to evaluate the relation between amount of these elements. Methods: In a cross-sectional study, 230 ( 130 men and 100 women) blood specimens were taken. Clotting blood was needed. Each of sample was investigated for evaluating amount of serum iron, TIBC and ferritin. Results: The mean of TIBC was 397.33 mg/dl in men and 413.20 mg/dl in women. The average of serum iron was 156.46 mg/dl in men and 80.72 mg/dl in women. The mean amount of serum ferritin in men and women was 97.5 ng/dl and 60.9 ng/dl, respectively. There were significant difference between serum iron and ferritin level (p<0.05). But there were no significant difference between TIBC and ferritin level (p>0.05). Conclusion: The finding of this study shown that there was the positive relation between serum iron and ferritin level and in the most of cases, when ferritin was decreased, serum iron was decreased too. there was the negative relation between ferritin level and TIBC. In the most of cases, when serum ferritin was decreased, TIBC was increased.
