Prevalence of Eimeria infection in quails in Urmia city, Iran

Introduction and objectives: One of the health problems is parasitic disease that can affect the growth, reproduction and survival of the poultry. The aim of this study was performed to identify Eimeria parasites prevalence in quails in Urmia city, Iran.   Materials and Methods: In this study, 100 quails were examined (65 males and 35 females). Fecal test was used to detect parasitic infection. Flotation method using saturated sugar solution was performed.     Results and conclusion: Out of the 100 specimens, Eimeria oocyst were observed in 31 samples (31%). There was no significant difference in the frequency of parasitic infection between males and females (p> 0.05). The results of the study indicated that there was a high prevalence of protozoan contamination in quails.
