Abstract: Prostate cancer is the second most leading and prevalent malignancy following lung can13 cer around the world. Prostate cancer in the prostate gland is characterized by uncontrolled growth 14 of cells. Prostate cancer morbidity and mortality have grown drastically, and intensive prostate can15 cer care is unlikely to produce adequate outcomes. The synthetic drugs in clinical practice for the 16 treatment of prostate cancer facing several challenges. Quercetin is a natural flavonoid found in 17 fruits and vegetables. Apart from its beneficial effects, its play a key role as an anti-cancer agent. 18 Quercetin has shown anticancer potential alone as well as in combination. So, the current study was 19 design to collect information from literature regarding its therapeutic significance in the treatment 20 of prostate cancer. Studies performed both in vitro and in vivo have confirmed that quercetin effec21 tively prevents prostate cancer by different underlying mechanisms. Promising findings have also 22 been achieved in clinical trials regarding the pharmacokinetics and human application of quercetin. 23 In the meantime, epidemiological studies have shown a negative correlation between the consump24 tion of quercetin and the incidence of prostate cancer and have indicated a chemopreventive effect 25 of quercetin on prostate cancer in animal models. The major issues associated with quercetin is its 26 low bioavailability and quicker metabolism, thus need priority attention to cope with it. Chemo27 resistance is another main negative feature concerned with prostate cancer treatment. The current 28 review highlights the chemotherapeutic effect, chemo preventive effect and chemoresistance elimi29 nation potential of quercetin in prostate cancer. The underlying mechanisms for elimination of pros30 tate cancer and eradication of resistance either alone or in combination with other agents is also 31 discussed. In addition, the nanoscale delivery of quercetin is underpinned along with future direc32 tions.
