چکیده :

Abstract The research purpose was to investigate the story-telling literacy of pre-elementary instructors in Paveh Province in the school year of 2013-2014. The research employed descriptive-analytic and survey method. The data gathering tools included scientific and library resources and also researcher-made story-telling literacy questionnaire in two general sections (demographic data) and special section (evaluation indicators) scored on Likert scale. The statistical population included all the instructors (30) of pre-elementary school centers in Paveh Province. The gathered data were analyzed using descriptive (frequency distribution tables), statistical indices (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics. Results indicated that, the awareness and knowledge of teachers in terms of two indicators of story-telling literacy (skills and goals of story-telling) is acceptable. However, they didn’t score well on other indicators of story-telling (concept and methods of story-telling). Overall, the results indicated that, instructors do not possess the necessary and adequate level of knowledge on story-telling and this problem might stem from software or hardware issues and obstacles and unfortunately, plenty of pre-elementary centers do not have such facilities. Therefore, instructors can be helped in this issue to tackle the problem.
