چکیده :

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of coping training on male students’ self-efficiency and self-esteem in the first grade of Shirvan Town high school. The research method is quasi-experimental and pretest-posttest trial type with the control group. Statistical population includes all first grade high school male students in Shirvan Town in 2013-2014. After taking Cooper Smith’s Self-Esteem Test and Adams & Sherer’s General Self-Esteem Test, 30 students were selected as the sampling among the population with low self-esteem and self-efficiency and were assigned randomly in two groups with 15 subjects. The experimental group was trained the coping skills in 8 sessions, each one half an hour. The control group was not trained at all. After finishing the coping skills training, both groups were compared to determine the effectiveness of the coping skills in the experimental group. The data were analyzed by using Covariance Statistical Analysis. The results of the study underlines that the coping skills training has been effective for the students dealing with the life challenging, increasing the self esteem and believing the self-efficiency. It’s been recommended to study about the effectiveness of the coping skills on female and male students’ self-esteem and self-efficiency, on the other educational courses and even in the universities. It’s also better to study about the other psychological traits such as life expectancy, depression, interpersonal behavior.
