Illocutionary speech acts make the subject matter of the present study. Searle’s (1969) model is adopted to investigate comparatively these sorts of speech in the first and the last verses of Quran. This model proposes that illocutionary speech acts consist of five major categories as: representative, expressive, commissive, directive, and declarative. The results obtained in this study indicate that most speech acts in the first verse “Alagh” were ‘directive’; whereas, the most speech acts in the last verse “Nasr” were ‘representative’. It is worth mentioning the frequency of ‘expressive and commissive’ acts in both verses is the lowest, being zero.
