چکیده :

An experiment was conducted to survey the selenium priming in reducing negative effects of salinity and less reserves seed on germination of Cicer arietinum (CV. Hashem), in the research laboratory of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz, Iran in 2012. The experimental design was factorial based on completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications. The treatments included Selenium (Se) (18 Mg without and with using) 100 weight kernel (24, 32 and 40gr) and salt stress have been used and inducted by NaCl solution (0, 7 and 14 dc/m). For this purpose solution was used with different concentrations and added after sterilization of seeds, dried by sterile paper then transferred in to sterile petri dishes. Several attributes of germination characteristics (such as seed germination percentage, germination rate, and Length and dry weight of radicle and plumule and Root / shoot dry weight ratio) and germination indexes (such as mean of Germination time, Germination index and Germination uniformity and seedling vigour index) have been measured in this experiment. The results showed that salinity decreased the seed germination and decreases germination of chickpea, especially in the treatments with less seed weight but Selenium priming could be used to compensate the damage up to 18% caused by salinity and low grain weight so the difference in germination for the treatment of salinity 12 dS m salt concentration and seed weight of 24 g. It was 39% in contrast to the control. In general, salinity and low seed weight had a strong negative effect on all traits measured however, pretreatment with selenium reduced somewhat negative damage.
