چکیده :

This study examines the impact of lesson study on the academic achievement of the sixth grade elementary school students. The main hypothesis in the study includes; 1. There is a meaningful relation between teachers' proficiency in lesson study and the academic achievement of the sixth grade elementary school students. 2. There is a meaningful relation between the rate of applying lesson study by teachers and its consequence on the academic achievement of the sixth grade elementary school students. Lesson study method is controlled as an independent variable and the value of scores' ''view'' in mathematics and science will be examined as a dependent variable. Methodologically this study is an empirical study. Study time domain is in the academic year of 2012-2013 and its place is in Urmia city. The target population consists of the teachers teaching in the sixth grade elementary schools in Urmia city; the total population in restrict 1 and restrict 2 accordingly is 71 and 82 teachers. Therefore, the total number of population in this study is 153 teachers. It was found out that in those classes in which teachers benefited from the use of lesson study method the average was 16/25 and in those classes in which teachers benefited from the use of traditional method the average was 15/89. This can individually be a strong reason emphasizing the importance of the type of teaching method at this grade.
