The aim of this study was to compare the starting age, training background, and performance consistency of Iranian elite wrestlers with famous countries ones. 800 elite wrestlers in the seven world famous countries; including Iran, Russia, USA, Cuba, Turkey, Georgia and Ukraine who won medals in international competitions were studied since the 1960s to 2010. All information was extracted on these wrestlers to internal search and the site of world wrestling federation (FILA). Research hypothesis using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Scheffe post hoc test at P≤0/05 were assessed. Results showed significant difference between Iranian wrestlers starting age of training (12.25±2.19 years) with other countries (10.94±2.48 years). However, Iranian wrestlers had won their medals (6.97±3.06 medals) earlier than other countries (8.32±3.94 medals). Also, the best medals were obtained by Iranian elite wrestlers. In conclusion, it seems that age of starting have critical role for gaining to best performance.
