The creation of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and their role in international law with an emphasis on the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA),

The international system changed dramatically after World War II. One of the most important changes that had occurred in this context was the entry of new actors on the world stage. With the arrival of international governmental organizations and due to their influence in the international arena, international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) have also played an increasingly prominent role in the international arena and have taken a worthy place in the international law. The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) is one of international non-governmental organizations that less attention has been paid to it, but in fact, FIFA has much influence on international law and establishment of certain public obligations and mandatory rules. The present study has tried to investigate the status of international non-governmental organizations in international law in general and the role of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) in international law in particular. Considering the inalienable role and influence of football in the world today and establishment of basic principles of international law, such as non-discrimination and moving towards development, which represent attention of this organization to the right to development, it can be said that today NGOs are implicitly the main actors of international law due to their movements toward meeting the goals of international law which include world peace and building a better world. Library research method based on note-taking from written references and the internet is used in the present study. Also, a descriptive-analytic approach has been used in this article.
