Modeling Female Students Entertainment Websites Usage Patterns

Abstract—Internet usage increasing continually and each person during a day spending sometimes depend on her/his job in Internet for different purpose. In education environment currently Internet is the basic requirements and all institutions providing this facility for students and faculty members for the purpose of help their knowledge improvements, but for exploring how much this facility can be help for students or teachers in educational and personal knowledge improvements‟, we need to deeply study each aspects of usage areas and these affection on students academic performance. As far as we know, our work is the first study investigation for evolution different categories of Websites usages on students‟ curricular or co- curricular activities. We are presented a framework for exploration and modeling female students browsing behavior in Internet related to entertainment category Websites. Our results declared the most favorite categories of visited Websites by students and briefly represented relationships of usage of those websites with students‟ academic performance CPI (Cumulative Performance Index) and finally we made Decision Tree for predicting female users‟ Entertainment websites usage behaviors and relationships with their academic results. This investigation represents all aspects of entertainment categories users‟ behaviors modeling from different aspects same as their total time spent in each category related to their semester or program wise for various departments. Modeling students‟ internet usage behaviors and identifying more interesting areas of Internet for students, is an important issue for both teachers and administrators. Since it can be help a better understanding of this phenomenon and ultimately improving teaching methodology. For instance, teachers can be able to recognize weak students with their usage patterns and plan for help them as soon as possible. Furthermore, our results can be useful for administrators for improving their policy or their decision taking for providing new facilities or sometimes blocking or making a limitation for usage of special websites during a semester or examination weeks.
