The role of zakat in development of rural regions in Iran in comparison with Pakistan

Paying zakat hasn’t been set as a payable payment in most of the Islamic country, and there are many cases in which the zakat is not paid because of various reasons; and sometimes it is spent in the cases that the payers intend. In the view of extended social affairs and their complications, and according to the supplies of an Islamic government establishment, we must try to set up and propagate this duty. Paving the way for a desirable accomplishment of this divine duty needs the compassionate of Islamic scholars to take serious efforts and also needs the cooperation of public. This article consists of three parts; first we have discussed the economic related issues of zakat in brief. In the second part we presented the situation of paying zakat in Iran in comparison with Pakistan to show the differences and the effects of zakat in eradicating of poverty. Where the brief history, function, and the volume of distribution and payments in these countries are considered. Finally this survey introduces some possible approaches for Islamic countries. In the other hand we present some suggestions to increase the extent of zakat payment and collection in Islamic countries.
