Scientific Productivity and Collaboration of the Top Asian Countries in Scopus

The current research aims to investigate scientific productivity and collaborations of 10 top Asian countries in Scopus database from 1999 to 2008. Those documents specified one of the ten top Asian counties (China, Japan, India, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Iran, Thailand and Malaysia) as their affiliated country, published during 1999-2008 and indexed in Scopus database, were selected as the sample of study. The results of the study revealed that China has the highest number of scientific productivity among 10 top Asian countries with 7.34%. Over the period under consideration, 1124627 documents of Chinese researchers were indexed in Scopus. Japan has the 2nd rank in scientific productions with 964941 documents which placed this country as the 4th rank in Scopus database after USA, England, and China. Moreover, Japan was the highly-cited Asian country in Scopus with 8.59 citations per document. Iranian scholars have the 8th rank in scientific productivity and citations among the top Asian countries
