Abstract. A new tetra dentate salophen type complex of Cu(II) supported on polyvinyl alcohol (Tet. Cu Com.@PVA) was synthesized and served as an efficient catalyst for preparation of 5-Substituted 1H-Tetrazoles using hydroxylamine hydrochloride and sodium azide in mild conditions. A variety of aldehydes involves electron releasing and electron withdrawing substituents were used in order to transformation to tetrazole derivatives. This transformation was performed as one pot reaction through a cycloaddition between azide ion and oxime group. The catalyst demonstrates well performance for preparation of 5-substituted 1H-tetrazoles in high to excellent yields at room temperature in water and was successfully characterized by FTIR, UV-Vis, 1H NMR, and TGA instruments. Furthermore loading amount of copper on polymeric ligand and reusability of the catalyst were studied by inductive coupled plasma (ICP) analysis. The catalyst can be easily recovered from the mixture and reused for eight runs without any considerable loss of activity.
