Isoxazol-5(2H)-ones with 5-membered basic structures and chemical formula C3H3NO2 are categorized in a class of most important organic heterocycles with pharmacological properties. Generally, isoxazolones are synthesized via Worrall method and products obtained from their rearrangement constitute an important part of pyropyrimidines, phthalasines, naphthyridines and etc. that are a very important class of pharmacological compounds. Isoxazole rings have been found in some of natural compounds such as ibotenic acid and a number of pharmaceuticals such as COX-2, where they act as valdecoxib inhibitors. A large number of isoxazol-5(2H)-one derivatives such as imidazole prepared via vacuum photolysis and pyrolysis reactions are developed for various therapeutic applications.
