چکیده :

The unmethodical expansion of cities and lack of urban developmental functions proportionate to the delirious urban population increase and development in the developing countries has been one of the greatest challenges of the latter half of the twentieth century and now at the beginning of the twenty first century. The Zahedan city as the center of the Sistan and Baluchistan Province situated at the meeting point of the communication roads of Khorasan, Kerman, Baluchistan, Sistan and Pakistan has had more than Five fold population increase during the past twenty years and has had more thanten times physical development while its infra structure services and other economic, social and cultural functions have by no means developed proportionate to this increasing trend. The urban dwelling without planning in Zahedan has had unwholesome consequences on this city which are as follows: - the city’s expansion and the acute shortage of urban drinking water - exansion of the city towards the suburbs and the occupation of cultivational space around it - occupation of urban waterways directions - the increase of the city’s non- homogenous social, economic and cultural trends - the expansion of the city’s marginal shanty districts The expansion situation and the unmethodical urban expansion, reason and consequences on Zahedan city are analyised in detail in the main article.
