چکیده :

Background and Aim : Reduction in blood circulation and oxygen delivery can affect structure and function of testicular tissue. The present study was conducted to evaluate the protective effect of vitamin C and royal jelly on the experimental hemolytic anemia-induced changes on testicular histology in adult mice. Methods : 64 adult male mice were randomly and equally assigned to eight groups. The first group received normal saline (0.1ml) intraperitoneally. The second group received PHZ (6 mg/100 gr) intraperitoneally in 48-hour intervals. The third group received vitamin C (250 mg/kg/day) intraperitoneally. The fourth group received royal jelly (100 mg/kg/day) through gavage. The fifth group received PHZ along with vitamin C and royal jelly in similar doses to the previous groups. The sixth group received only vitamin C. The seventh group revived only royal jelly and finally the eighth group received similar doses of vitamin C and royal jelly. After 35 days, the testis of all animals was harvested and microscopic evaluation of MNICs infiltration determined by using the unbiased counting frame. Results : Histological studies revealed that PHZ in mice led to marked elevation of MNICs infiltration in the testis. Co-administration of royal jelly and vitamin C partially improved the changes in the above parameters. Conclusion : The results suggest that PHZ produces an immunological response in the testis, which may have the potential to adversely affect fertility in cases of testicular tissue.
