Fe3O4@SiO2/Schiff base/Pd(II) catalyze for the first time the activation of NH2NH2 as a transfer
hydrogenation agent. Aryl and alkyl nitro compounds are cleanly reduced into the corresponding amines
in the presence of hydrazine. The operational simplicity, practicability and applicability of this protocol to
various substrates make it an interesting alternative to previous procedures. The present approach offers
several advantages such as simplicity of operation, high yields, short reaction times, easy work-up, a
cleaner reaction and ease of recovery and reusability of the catalyst using a magnetic field.
