Emergency team members must be able to differentiate emergent medical surgical situations from side effects of contraceptive methods

INTRODUCTION: This article aimed to identify differential diagnosis between emergent medical surgical situations and side effects of contraceptives .It can help to progress health and quality of life by precise judgment. Material & METHOD: Based on critique of literature review about contraceptives methods and their side effects, this article shares with the reader about differential diagnosis of emergency case and side effects of contraceptives methods. RESULT: Nausea and vomiting, hypertension (HTN) and edema that occurred in emergency cases may result from estrogen component of oral contraceptive pills (OCP). Also we should be a focus for side effects of IUD dislocation such as pain, ectopic pregnancy and pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and complications of tubectomy such as low abdominal pain and ectopic pregnancy in differential diagnosis of acute abdomen. CONCLUSION: Emergency team members should identify differential diagnosis between emergency case and side effects of contraceptive methods that will lead them to precise judgment and best treatment.
