Facile preparation of new MOCVD precursor Bis (acetylacetonato O,O') [zinc(II) cobalt(II)] as new bimetal complex

New bimetallic compounds of bis(acetylacetonato κ-O,O') [zinc(II)/cobalt(II)], as new MOCVD precursor have been synthesized. This complex prepared by reactions of Co(NO3)2.3H2O and Zn(NO3)2.6H2O with acetylacetonate (acac) in ethanol/water. . The complex crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P1 21/c1. The cell dimensions are a = 10.789(4) A°, b = 5.355(2) A°, c = 11.058(5) A°, α= 90°, β= 105.683(8)°, γ = 90° ,Volume 615.0(4) A°3, Z= 2. The structure was refined to R indices (all data) R = 0.0199, Crystal size 0.2 * 0. 2 * 0.15 mm3. The distribution of two kinds of metals in the complex is random, which suggests that all the molecules would contain Zn and Co atoms in average. The atomic structure of the new complex is square planer characterized by x-ray diffraction, where two ligands coordinating to the metal atoms are located in the same plane, and the metals have octahedral coordination.
