The increasing growth of industry in the utilization of advanced technologies has caused a competition to gain an access to them and an existence in the serious competition scene. Amid this, the correct utilization of knowledge and existing information in an organization is needed and essential for the success in this competitive arena. Knowledge management, which is the research strategy of this aim, it needs application tools and it is appropriate that today the information technology is fulfilling this role. In this paper, besides enumerating the classic four stages viz. creation, reserve, transfer and utilizing knowledge in implementation of the public knowledge management, role and the position of information technology in each of them is explained.
