The study of personality traits self-control and emotional regulation in criminals: crime analysis based on personality psychology

The aim of this study was to investigate personality traits self-control and emotional regulation in criminals: crime analysis based on personality psychology. Research method was descriptive-correlative and statistical sample of this research was all those criminals who were in Sanandaj reformatory house including 60 criminals which selected as available sample. The personality questionnaire of Eysenck and also self-controlling and affective regulation questionnaires were used as research instruments. Data were analyzed using correlation coefficient and regression analysis. Results showed that there is a negative and positive significant relationship between two factors neurotics and psychotics with self-control and emotional regulation, respectively and neurotics and psychotics factors can predict self-control and all personality traits have enough ability to regulate emotions. Only extraversion factor has no significant relationship with self-control and emotional regulation and lacks enough predictability. Theoretical and practical implications or results were discussed in the section of discussion.
