چکیده :

The present research aims to investigate the relationship between the department heads’ duties and the performance of the academic staff members in Islamic Azad University’ Bonab Branch. For this purpose, the relationship between the university department heads’ duties and their dimensions including educational, research, and cultural duties, programming, communications, supervision, evaluation, and coordination with the academic staff members’ performance and its dimensions including the educational and research performance has been studied. The research population consists of 115 academic staff members of the university under study. Due to the limited number of the subjects, all of them have been included. The data collection instrument is a questionnaire. The validity of the questionnaire has been confirmed by content face value. The reliability of the questionnaire has been confirmed by Cronbach’s Alpha with 0.709 for the questions on the department heads’ duties and 0.972 for the questions on the academic staff members’ performance. In order to test the research hypotheses, Pearson and Friedman’s tests were used. The results show that there is a relationship between the department heads’ duties and the performance of the academic staff members. Also, the rate of the relationship between the department heads’ duties and the performance of the academic staff members; that is, the educational duties of the department heads have the most relationship and their research duties have the least relationship with the performance of the academic staff members.
