چکیده :

ABSTRACT: Comparative investigation of hydro-distilled essential oil from aerial parts of Thymus daenensis Celak with well known species, Thymus. vulgaris L. was carried out; including: oil percentage, oil yield, phenolic yield and oil composition. The most important phenolic constituents identified by GC and GC-MS were Thymol and Carvacrole. T.daenensis produced the highest essential oil yield and phenolic yield at the full flowering stage (82.5 and 73.5 kg/ha, respectively) but in T. vulgaris these factors increased at fruit set (31.7 and 27.6 kg/ha, respectively). Mid of flowering and fruit set stages had the maximum essential oil percentage in T. daenensis (2.8%) and T. vulgaris (1.2%) respectively. Also essential oil yield and phenolic yield were higher in the second year. Finally according to the results, T.daenensis is better than T. vulgaris in view of essential oil yield, phenolic yield and essential oil percentage therefore can be recommended for extensive cultivation and use in medicine industries.
