An Evaluation of Methadone Effects on Addiction Abandonment at Sirjan City

This paper intends to evaluate any effects of methadone on addiction abandonment at Sirjan city. It may present a history and relevant records about addiction and fighting guidelines with addiction and its final removal as well. Human being was familiar with opium poppy from last 7,000 years in different civilizations like Sumerian. Then after its change into a medical nature, today there is a wide scope of consumption and addiction to different narcotics in most human societies. There is a wide scope of removing this problem as well. For this purpose, there are different methods including methadone as a semi-opiate which was made for the first time in 1040 in Germany. It was used in Iran in 2003 for the first time and simultaneously at Sirjan city on 12.Oct.2003. The statistical population of this study is all persons under treatment with Methadone at Sirjan city. Sample case study of present research includes 100 persons from among 729 consumers of methadone completely on random basis and according to the covered percentage of persons in different centers to total population of methadone consumers in this city.Research method is field and survey one. Data collection was made by a questionnaire and interview. In order to specify the validity or reliability of question, firstly we used Face Validity technique and also Familiar Groups one for evaluation of reliability of questionnaire questions and Cronbach Alpha test. For testing any relations among eight variants by the use of X2 test it was revealed that there are three variants with significant relation with no more relation among others. Followings are the major results of the case: Satisfaction rate of methadone consumption is about %98 and according to the economic situation it is about %76 from poor level of society. The real purpose of methadone consumption is about %76 for addiction abandonment and %24 as a substitute of narcotics. There is a direct significant correlation between economic situation and knowledge level about methadone and also addiction abandonment term before consuming of methadone and any effects of which on addiction abandonment. There is not any significant correlation between methadone consumption, number of times for addiction abandonment, period of methadone treatment, consumption rate of methadone at beginning and type of consuming materials before methadone. Regarding the short life of methadone consumption among addicted persons in this city it is impossible to give any specific idea about permanent addiction abandonment but it is possible to say that it was successful in controlling most diseases.
