چکیده :

Procurement of the country’s required wood for pulp and paper industries is currently exposed to some limitations due to extensive deforestations and underdeveloped forestry as well as difficulties in supplying required budget to import long fiber CMP. Taking into account the developed cultivation of canola in Iran, characteristics of Chemimechanical Pulp (CMP) has been investigated in this study. To prepare CMP from canola stalk, 160 °C temperature was applied for 40min at 5 and 10% of chemicals with the cooking liquor to canola stalk ratio of 7.1. Solution of 5.5% hydrogen peroxide was used for bleaching. Efficiency of CMP was calculated using 5 and 10% chemicals with 78.07 and 74.07% concentrations, respectively. Tensile strength index for the made papers was 19.33 and 20.03 N.m g-1, their burst strength index was 0.83 and 0.57 K.Pa.m2 g-1, their tear strength index was 2.57 and 3.25 m.N.m2 g-1, and their opacity values was 95.02 and 96.32%, respectively. This research revealed that considering the limitation of lignocelluloses resources of wood, canola stalk which is cultivated in vast areas of the country can be used as both a lignocelluloses materials and a substitute for part of consumed raw materials in producing CMP and other products of wood and paper industry.
