The purpose of this study was to investigate the communication styles of drug dependents in relax conditions and stress conditions. according to Jung’s theory, in addition to the communication style of extroversion/introversion, there are four other styles in terms of psychological functions among people namely, sensing, intuition, thinking, and feeling. Sensing and intuition are considered irrational functions and thinking and feeling are considered rational functions that include judgment and evaluating the experiences. The population of the study included all 18-60 year-old drug dependents who had come to addiction treatment center in the spring and summer last year. Fifty drug dependents were randomly selected as the sample of the study. In order to collect data, structured interview and a communication styles questionnaire were used, and descriptive statistics was employed for analysis of data. The data indicated that, 40 percent of drug dependents were between 35 and 25 and used opium, glass, and crack more than other types of drugs. Their levels of education were below diploma (61%), diploma (28%), and above diploma (11%). The results also indicated that the communication style of most dependents was sensing in relax conditions (54%) and feeling in stress conditions (54%). As it was expected, participants with communication style of thinking constituted the least number in relax conditions (8%) and feeling in stress conditions (4%). Based on the results, it can be concluded that since the communication style plays a role in their decision-making process, it is recommended that the communication styles of drug dependents is taken into account in preventive programs. Moreover, these styles should be taught to children and the youth.
